    NOPE! Not ANOTHER app on the phone! Not another app that needs to update or simply be abandoned. The UI only needs to be on the unit. If one is too lazy to to the unit really needs to rethink a lot of things. Not aware of any water softener not made in the USA. We agree, a whole house filter is good. Wish more RO systems for the kitchen and ice maker were out in the utility room rather than having a leak potential under the kitchen sink.,

      No. The foam did really well with sealing anything large. The only places I had any air leaking was the attic access and a couple areas around where the base plate sits on the concrete. I needed to caulk along the whole edge.

    Not a plumber here at all, but I was thinking the main benefit of the pex was to have "home run lines", and not all the connections in the wall. I saw couplers down the line there, and now having the 2- 90 connectors on those stub outs, wouldn't this add a chance for leaks? Just wondering here, not criticizing ...

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo День назад

      Yes less connections the better for sure. But not every system is going to have a manifold where every line runs all the way back. For some reason it’s more common here in Vegas to use pex I a similar fashion as copper. Main line running through the house of hot and cold and they branch off in the walls or ceilings several lines to feed the wall/fixture where the water is needed. But you thinking process is correct.

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 3 дня назад

      Depending on how old the batteries are you may need to change the batteries in the remote. I notice when it works intermittently it’s because the batteries are getting weak. If that’s not the issue you may have a bad wire connection. If it works sometimes but not others it could be the connecting wires or a bad remote/reciever.

    Why not just drill the smaller hole all the way through that 2/x4 and run the stub out without the rubber grip? You drill out material that you go back and fill with the grip that you had to buy. Am I missing something?

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 5 дней назад

      The plastic clips are made for the PeX. Have less of a chance of rubbing through the material than creating a tight fit with wood to plastic fitting. The clips also have a small tab on each side on the back that apply pressure to the pex to create some grip. So it’s not just working as a plastic sleeve but also a clip/grip. You could do straight through wood though if you want. You just gotta have a tight fit or come back with foam or something to create a grab inbetween the pex and wood

      It can be done but I believe even if you wired the blue wire on the fan to a separate wall switch like the red wire and had the fan on the switch from the black wire… you may get it to turn on and off but you wouldn’t be able to choose any light features like how bright it is or what shade/tone it is. Most fans these days are built to have a remote receiver installed to control all the functions and speeds.

    Is the rod mandatory in that model fan?? Is it flush mount capable? I just purchased the Hampton Bay Tyra ceiling fan. The connection does not turn on the fan or light with remote. I have 3 green, 1 copper, black, white, plus those blue, white and black out of that mini box. Plus a yellow antenna wire. All controlled by a single switch. Below that single switch is another single switch that controls one outlet in room. Mine are not side by side.

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 7 дней назад

      Most of these fans I’ve seen lately use at least a small 4-6” down rod with the ball to pivot on. If you’re looking for an actual flush mount fan you might need to search for that specifically in the fans description. If you have a black/white/copper In the ceiling and connect according to the video or directions on the fan you should be able to flip the switch on the wall to supply the power (Leaving it on always) and then using the remote to control the on/off functions of the fan and light.

    Hey man! Your responses to others questions solved my problem….youre the best! I am connecting to fans on the back porch the wiring is piggy backed to the other… If I have 2 red 2 black 2 white and 2 copper coming from the ceiling.. It’s an older home… do I connect red to black from ceiling to….? SOS 😢

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 8 дней назад

      I’m not 100% sure with the way you’re explaining it. Red usually is treated as “HOT” , or basically like your traditional black wire for HOT. But if you have a black set and a red set then my first guess would be there’s two wall switches ? If your able to use a tester and see if the red and black are both hot or which switch turns them on ? That would help with where to start. As far as the piggy backing- the wire is the ceiling will be and usually when connecting to the fan wiring. Black to black, white to white and copper to copper/green. But if your piggy backing to the next fan then you will have in that first ceiling location the set of wires that’s running over to the next fan. So in the first ceiling location you will. Keep all the black together, all the whites together and all the coppers together. So the power is shared to the fan and the connecting wires down the line. In the second location you’d have the single set of wires and do your same traditional connecting of colors/wires. Main thing is figuring out if you want to use the red or the black as your “HOT”.

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 9 дней назад

      That you I appreciate that. We still love the system. Haven’t had any problems at all. On initial install I had a small O-ring in the port that plugs in for the brine tank that I had to replace. I pinched it and it would allow a tiny bit of water to drip. So I replace the small O ring. It wasn’t anything big but that was the only issue I had. Otherwise we had had a great experience with the system. It is nice having the whole home filtration and soft water.

    • @FortKnoxCo

      Are you able to see if the brine tank is getting water flushed in and out while it’s doing its regeneration? Because if it’s filling up with water and doing its regeneration then it should be dissolving that salt. So my first guess would be that the brine tank is not actually flushing and filling.

      @FortKnoxCo 8 дней назад

      @@Sad_Vesh I’m not sure what you’re referring to with the “condition”. The salt you pour in goes into the brine tank(salt tank). It has a hose from the filter system large tank that will connect to the side of the brine tank. That connection has a valve and when the system flushes it will fill the brine tank up with water, the water becomes saturated with salt, the salt water is flushed through the larger filter tank to “scrub” the material inside and clean it of all the hard water minerals it’s collected and then it flushes the large tank with water to clean the salt water out.

    When talking about the garage lighting you said you could use an AFCI breaker in place of a GFI receptacle. Arc fault and ground fault are two different things. I assume you meant GFI Breaker?

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 10 дней назад

      Yes. In place of a GFCI. Apologies for the miss speaking. I was mainly trying to drive home the ideas of having a breaker & first outlet as a GFCI or have a breaker with the same capabilities and accomplishing the overall same task of protecting your circuits

    Where do you turn off the system to clean the filter?

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 10 дней назад

      On the pump there should be the button to power on and off. And at the breaker you can turn the breaker to the poop pump off. Either next to the system on the panel or at your main breaker panel

      That I’m not sure. Measure it out and see if it fits the dimensions I’m have in the video.

    What happened to the hallett boat build?

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 10 дней назад

      It’s still happening but slowed down because I’m in the middle of building a detached casita & shop. Should be all done in a month or so. I’ll be pulling the Hallett in the new garage and start cranking on it soon

      I created a lot of softer turns and bends to help with the flow of water. You could always leave out a few of the extra 20 degree turns n stuff. But since I’m doing it myself I figured why not. I didn’t mind spending the extra on a few more pieces.

    lol primer on abs too funny.

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 10 дней назад

      You’re not wrong if you use primer. All it’s really doing is cleaning the surface before applying the cement solvent. Working out in the dirt and dust, using primer ain’t gonna hurt a thing.

    The problem with this method is that you introduce a fitting/fittings in the wall Whats great about PEX is that you can do home runs without fittings

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo 10 дней назад

      Yeah less fitting is always better. It is nice if you are using a main manifold to be able to do home runs but that’s not very common out in my area. I’ve heard many bad things about the manifolds, or at least the older ones from other companies. They are all plastic and the 1/4 turns seize up easily and damage easily. Causing expensive repairs. Here in Vegas most pex is used in the same fashion as you would copper.
